Johnnie Walker, the world’s best-selling Scotch whisky brand, has introduced its first India-inspired Blue Label festive blend in a history that spans nearly two centuries. Master Blender Dr Emma Walker created the new expression, drawing on the subcontinent’s rich culinary traditions and distinctive flavor palettes.

The limited-edition Blue Label Festive Blend will reach consumers in several key markets, including India, the United Kingdom, the United States and Global Duty-Free channels. The company notes that the formulation incorporates rare whiskies selected from an inventory of more than ten million casks, ensuring depth and complexity.

Dr Emma Walker explained that the blend captures the skill of Indian chefs who balance bold spices with subtle aromas. She highlighted the presence of cardamom, saffron, rosewater and citrus, while also noting layers of honey, chocolate-dipped fruit, warm spices and a faint hint of smoke that together create a harmonious palate.

Ruchira Jaitly, chief marketing officer at Diageo India, said that India is playing an increasingly important role in shaping the future of the whisky category. She added that the Blue Label Festive Blend unites the brand’s renowned craftsmanship with inspiration drawn from the country’s extraordinary flavor profiles.

India currently holds the position of the world’s largest whisky market by volume and stands as the biggest importer of Scotch whisky. The Scotch Whisky Association reported that, in 2025, the nation became the leading export market for Scotch whisky by volume, accounting for more than 220 million bottles.

The Indian alcoholic-beverage market is witnessing a shift toward premium and luxury offerings, a trend driven by rising affluence and evolving consumption habits. The India-UK Free Trade Agreement, which entered into force on 15 July 2026, is set to stimulate Scotch whisky sales in the country. Under the agreement, import duties are slated to fall from 150 percent to 75 percent, with a planned further reduction to 40 percent over the next ten years.
