Indian benchmark indices opened in the negative zone on August 18 as crude prices crossed past $91 per barrel. The BSE Sensex fell over 200 points to open at 77,418, while the Nifty50 opened near 24,223.85. Paytm, Oberoi Realty, SPR Auto Technologies, Netweb Technologies, GMR Airports, Nelco, KPI Green Energy, and Bharti Airtel are among the stocks that are going to stay in focus during today’s trading session.
One 97 Communications, the parent company of Paytm, is going to be in focus after Resilient Asset Management B.V. proposed to sell up to a 4.98% stake in the fintech company through a block trade. The proposed floor price was set at Rs. 1,535.10 per share, a discount to Paytm’s previous closing price. The transaction could be worth nearly Rs. 4,895 crore. Netweb Technologies is another key stock to watch after the company launched a Rs. 1,200 crore qualified institutional placement (QIP). The company has set a floor price of Rs. 4,885.90 per share, representing a discount to its previous market price. SPR Auto Technologies, formerly known as Shriram Pistons & Rings, has launched a QIP to raise around Rs. 1,000 crore. The floor price for the issue has been set at Rs. 4,438.20 per equity share.
The decision to raise fresh institutional capital through the QIP route puts immediate pressure on companies to execute these fundraising efforts efficiently. For investors watching these specific names, the success of these capital raises will likely dictate short-term price action more than broader market sentiment. If the market perceives the valuation in these placements as fair, the stocks may find support. However, if the discount offered is too steep, it could signal underlying concerns about the company’s future cash flows or profitability.
